Fine Breeds Spinning Class

In this class we will talk about and learn to process and spin fine fibres.  The wool we will be spinning is Cormo, Merino, and Rambouillet.  We will touch on what the benefits of fine wools are and what projects they are best used for as well as using carders and ideal spinning techniques for fine fibres such as spinning from the fold.

*This is an advanced beginner class. Registrants must feel comfortable spinning independently*

Medium Breeds Spinning Class

In this class we are going to explore the medium/down breed wool category.  These breeds are very common in the prairies and often overlooked in wool shows.  We will go over processing methods, spinning techniques ideal for these wools as well as the benefits of these breeds. The breeds we will focus on in this class are Finnsheep, Black Welsh Mountain, Corriedale, and Cheviot.

Longwools Spinning Class

Longwools are sought after for their strength and luster.  In this class we will talk about different long wool breeds, what makes them a good choice in certain projects and how to process the locks with ease.  We will work with Wensleydale wool in 3 different stages of processing. We will work with wool combs and flick carders.  We will also work on long draw spinning.

Specialty Breeds Spinning Class

The breeds that often fall in this category are primitive or dual coated.  While many of the wools that fall here are highly versatile, they are fun to work with.  We will talk about different way to process and spin these fleeces.
